Indigenous Airlines Altura Airlines Takes Flight
Altura Airlines has commenced operations today as a majority Indigenous-owned charter airline, delivering charted aviation across regional and remote Australia. Altura’s tailored aviation services will support mining and resources sector, government and regional communities across Australia.
Headquartered in Perth, Altura Airlines has been established to provide safe, reliable and responsive aviation solutions for organisations operating in some of Australia's most demanding regional and remote environments. The airline specialises in tailored charter services that support workforce mobility, project delivery and essential regional operations.
Altura Airlines brings together decades of experience in airline management, flight operations and aircraft maintenance to deliver safe, responsive and reliable charter aviation services tailored to the unique requirements of Australia's mining, energy, government and regional sectors.
Founded by Dr Amanda Healy, a proud Wonnarua woman and Co-Founder of leading Indigenous services company Warrikal, together with experienced aviation executives Michael Evans and Phil Garcia, Maroomba Airlines, Altura combines operational aviation expertise with a shared commitment to creating lasting economic and social value throughout regional Australia.
As a majority Indigenous-owned business, Altura brings a distinctive perspective to Australia's aviation industry—one that combines operational excellence with genuine partnerships and meaningful Indigenous participation.
Dr Amanda Healy, Co-Founder and Director of Altura Airlines said the company was established to deliver more than aviation services.
"Altura Airlines was created to connect people, projects and communities while creating meaningful opportunities for Indigenous participation, employment and economic empowerment."
"As a majority Indigenous-owned charter airline, we are proud to bring a different perspective to Australia's aviation industry—one that combines operational excellence with genuine partnerships, exceptional service and a long-term commitment to the regions where we operate."
Built on agility, responsiveness and a deep understanding of remote operations, Altura Airlines delivers tailored aviation solutions supporting the mining, energy, infrastructure, government and regional sectors across Australia.
The Altura Airlines fleet offers Dash 8-100, Dash 8-300 and Dash 8-400 aircraft. This fleet provides dependable, flexible and efficient charter services for FIFO workforce movements, executive travel, project mobilisation and other specialist aviation requirements across regional and remote Australia.
Altura Airlines also plans to expand its fleet and operational capability, with the introduction of the Airbus A320 aircraft from 2027, subject to regulatory approvals. The addition of larger-capacity jet aircraft will enable the airline to support higher-volume workforce movements and deliver tailored aviation solutions for the mining, energy, government and infrastructure sectors across Australia.
Michael Evans, Co-Founder and Director of Altura Airlines said Altura had been built around the operational expectations of customers working in regional and remote Australia.
"Our customers operate in environments where reliability, responsiveness and safety are critical to maintaining productivity. They need an aviation partner that understands those operational realities and consistently delivers."
"We've built Altura around experienced people, proven systems and a customer-first culture. Safety, professionalism and operational excellence underpin every decision we make, and our focus is on delivering aviation solutions our customers can depend on."
"Our strategy is to grow alongside our customers by expanding both our fleet and operational capability, ensuring we continue to meet the evolving needs of Australia's mining, energy, government and regional industries."
Altura Airlines is supported by an experienced team of pilots, engineers and operational personnel with extensive backgrounds in regional and remote aviation. Operating under Australia's rigorous aviation regulatory framework, the airline maintains robust Safety Management Systems, comprehensive maintenance programmes and a culture of continuous improvement across all aspects of its operations.
Phil Garcia, Co-Founder and Director of Altura Airlines, said the airline's success would be built on long-term customer relationships and operational performance.
"We understand that aviation is a critical part of our customers' operations. Our role is to provide dependable aircraft, responsive service and the confidence that comes from working with an experienced aviation partner."
"What sets Altura Airlines apart is that our commercial success is directly linked to creating broader opportunities for regional Australia. By combining deep aviation capability with genuine community partnerships, we're building an airline that delivers lasting value for our customers, our people and the communities we serve."
As Altura Airlines grows, the company will continue expanding its aviation capability while strengthening partnerships with industry, government and regional communities throughout Australia. Its focus remains on delivering safe, dependable aviation services while creating sustainable economic opportunities and supporting the long-term success of the regions in which it operates.
